Family Promise Jacksonville:
Other Family Promise Stories:
Our church will host program participants at the church for three 1-week sessions during the year. Typically, 2-3 families at a time are participating in the program. We will provide food for breakfast, prepare lunches and prepare and serve dinner to these families for one full week. Program vans transport the families to the family center at First United Methodist in downtown Jacksonville for work/school/mentoring every morning. Since we do not have shower facilities on site, they will eat breakfast, shower and dress for the day at the family center. They return “home” to us at the end of their day. We will have a room set up for each family with beds, linens and anything to make it more like home. We will provide their evening meal and often lend an ear or time to play or help with their children. Each night, we are required to have two church volunteers remain at the church overnight for support and supervision. Please prepare your heart to set aside just a little time next year to make this program possible. The program exists all over the country and has changed the hearts of the families involved – those who are guests and those who take them in!
