8 Days and Over 500 People Fed
by Faith Parry on April 4th, 2024
Over eight days, March 16-23, we participated in 3 events and helped feed people across Clay County. Thank you to everyone who helped, either by volunteering, donating items, or giving financially. A team of us went to Jacksonville to pack food at a table our church sponsored. This event was the 2nd Annual Faith in Action that Hunger Fight has put on. Churches sponsored all the tables. It was so much f...  Read More

Visions for a New Year
by Faith Parry on February 1st, 2024
The women started the year off by reflecting now where they want their energy to go and how they want to improve their lives. How did they do that? They created Vision Boards. Deborah shared her Vision board and how it helped focus her after retirement. She then guided everyone through the process of setting our goals for the year. Everyone had a great time not only thinking about our goals, but p...  Read More

Women Help a Stranger
by Faith Parry on July 18th, 2023
The women of Fleming Island (with some of their male counterparts) banded together to cook, make sandwiches, and serve our community. With only 7 sets of hands, this quick working group of ladies served soup, sandwiches, and pulled pork to our community through the Middleburg location of the Clay County kitchen. Women in Fellowship and Service Together
by Deborah Hudgins on March 9th, 2023
Sisterhood of Grace is the women's ministry of FIUMC. We focus on faith, service, fellowship and FUN! By gathering once a month we are able to strengthen the bonds of the women in our church and community. All of our gatherings are an open invitation for women of all ages to participate. Over the last few months, we have served in The Kitchen of Clay providing soup and sandwiches to anyone in need; collected food and packed Thanksgiving boxes for families of children at Green Cove Springs Junior High; gathered for our annual Christmas party where we shared food, participated in a gift exchange, and collected socks for the Orange Park Clothes Closet; and most recently visited Sweet Pete's for a Chocoholic Tour followed by lunch.  Read More

In December, the women had a Christmas party with 21 ladies present. They do this every year with good food, games, and fun. But the party is more than simply celebrating the holidays together. Years ago, they established a tradition of collecting new socks to donate to The Clothes Closet. We received the following letter (pictured above) from The Clothes Closet a few weeks ago: Dear Pastor Parry,...  Read More

Thanksgiving Boxes
by Faith Parry on December 22nd, 2022
I had the pleasure of helping pack our thanksgiving boxes for a bit. (My box is on the left side in the back. đŸ˜ƒ) I was blown away by everyone's generosity. Through our church's generosity, we collected around 600 items, with a value of around $1,500. These items filled 13 boxes, and 2 additional snack boxes for the school to keep on hand. Each box was filled was the following items: Cornbread MixSt...  Read More

October in the Bag
by Faith Parry on November 10th, 2022
October was a busy month, but we have so many things to celebrate. Many know this, but I wasn't in favor of doing the pumpkin patch this year. Why? Because I was worried it would over-tax our congregation's time. Why am I telling you this? Because I was wrong and I'm glad to be wrong.I'm a firm believer in sharing my opinion and then stepping back. The church council rallied together to bring the ...  Read More

Who would have guessed that for $6.99 a person, you could have traveled, not only to England and France, but also travel back in time to the Roaring Twenties! That’s what a group of ladies did, yesterday as they gathered together for some community and…  Read More
